ESN goes Eifel – Time for some german nature! We will hike with you through the Eifel, a pretty rural region not so far away from cologne. After taking the train to Gerolstein, we will hike to a viewpoint from where you can enjoy the view over a big part of the Eifel. Afterwards we are going to visit the Kasselburg (https://greifenwarte.net/wolfspark-kasselburg/), an castle which today is a zoo where you can see wolves, hawks and other typical german animals. Afterwards we go back to the train station in Gerolstein to regress to Cologne.
Organisation: The entrance for the Kasselburg is 8 Euro. The train ride to Gerolstein is for free with your semesterticket (UCCard). If you don't have a studentID you need to buy a ticket by yourself.
We will meet each other at 8:20 am at the Südbahnhof (Gleis 1) to take the RE12 (4181) to Gerolstein. All in all we will hike around 10 kilometer that day so be sure to wear adequate clothes and shoes. Because we walk to the forest for a while, be sure to bring yourself some food and water!! In the afternoon at the Kasselburg there will be a restaurant where you have the possibility to buy something to eat or to drink. See you on Saturday!
